What UTM parameters do

utm_source

Identifies who sent the traffic. E.g. google, newsletter, instagram.

utm_medium

The marketing channel. E.g. email, cpc, social, organic.

utm_campaign

The specific campaign name. E.g. q2-launch, black-friday.

utm_term

Paid search keywords (optional). Used in Google Ads campaigns.

utm_content

Differentiates links within a campaign. Useful for A/B testing CTAs.
